JY Dragunov (SVD) Manual Gel Blaster Sniper Rifle
The SVD, known more commonly as the Dragunov after it’s designer, was, in the real world, designed to serve a squad support role to provide precise long-range engagement capabilities to ordinary troops following the Warsaw Pact adoption of the 7.62×39mm intermediate cartridge and assault rifles as standard infantry weapon systems. At the time, NATO used battle rifles chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO as standard infantry weapon systems and had not yet adopted an intermediate cartridge and assault rifle of their own, allowing them to outrange their Warsaw Pact counterparts.
This fun replica is a great talking point for any den or beer room, as a wall hanger or display piece. It’s definitely more about the looks, than the performance. It still manages a reasonable 170 (ish) FPS, but that is a long way off the performance of most AEGs or Gas Powered Blasters.

This rifle offers excellent value for the price and has an impressive appearance straight out of the box. Assembly was straightforward and easy to complete.
I initially upgraded the spring to an M100, then later to an M120, both of which made a noticeable improvement in performance. Although it is generally not recommended to go beyond an M100, I also tested an M150 spring, which the rifle handled surprisingly well and resulted in a significant increase in power compared to the standard setup. That said, I would not recommend this upgrade for anyone intending to use the rifle heavily or long-term, as it may place additional stress on internal components.
My main criticism is the limited ability to upgrade or replace the scope. Doing so would require substantial modifications, and even then, the options appear fairly limited.
Overall, I am very happy with this rifle and would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. If the scope could be more easily upgraded.
