PolarStar F2™ HPA Engine Kit for Gel Blasters

The PolarStar F2 Gel Ball HPA Conversion Kit brings one of PolarStar’s most advanced electro-pneumatic HPA systems to compatible Gel Blaster builds. Compact, efficient and highly adjustable, the F2 essentially places Fusion Engine-style dual-solenoid technology into a cylinder-sized conversion package.

Unlike simpler single-solenoid HPA systems, the F2 uses two independently controlled solenoids. One controls nozzle operation, while the other controls the poppet valve and firing air. As a result, users can fine-tune loading and air delivery independently. This provides greater control over system timing, air volume and overall operation.

The F2 can also change its firing sequence electronically. Therefore, the system can operate in both true closed-bolt and AEG-style operating modes, giving experienced HPA builders considerably more tuning flexibility than many conventional cylinder replacement systems.

Designed Specifically for High-End HPA Builds

PolarStar describes the F2 as essentially a miniaturised Fusion Engine. Instead of replacing the complete gearbox assembly, however, the F2 is a cylinder conversion system designed to work within the original compatible gearbox shell.

This compact layout makes the F2 an excellent choice for custom Gel Blaster HPA builds where space, adjustability and efficiency are important.

Furthermore, the F2 uses a lightweight one-piece poppet valve. This design requires less air volume to operate and can function at relatively low pressure. Consequently, the system combines strong airflow capability with excellent efficiency.

Independent Nozzle and Air Control

One of the F2’s defining features is its independent control of nozzle and poppet timing.

Because these two functions are electronically separated, the system can be tuned around the characteristics of the individual Gel Blaster build. Barrel configuration, feeding characteristics, gel size, magazine performance and other factors can therefore be taken into consideration when setting up the system.

The F2 also features a spring-biased forward nozzle. This provides a consistent forward loading force regardless of the operating pressure being supplied to the engine. PolarStar also uses the same nozzle spring system found in the Fusion Engine, with different spring options available for specialised configurations.

Wide Adjustable Operating Pressure Range

PolarStar specifies an operating pressure range of approximately 45 PSI to 145 PSI for the F2 platform. This broad range allows the engine to be configured for many different applications without requiring different nozzles simply to alter output.

For Gel Ball use, actual velocity and performance will vary significantly according to the blaster, nozzle, barrel diameter and length, gel type, air seal, regulator settings and overall installation.

PolarStar publishes a maximum reference figure of approximately 480 FPS with a 0.20 g 6 mm BB at 145 PSI for its standard M4 airsoft test configuration. This is an airsoft manufacturer reference specification only and should not be interpreted as the expected velocity of a Gel Blaster configuration.

Excellent Air Efficiency

Efficiency is another major advantage of the F2 design.

Its lightweight poppet responds quickly while requiring relatively little air to operate. PolarStar states that the standard F2 poppet provides airflow characteristics comparable to its Red Low-Flow Fusion Engine poppet while offering improved response and efficiency.

Under PolarStar’s airsoft test conditions, the manufacturer reports more than 1,000 shots from a 13ci/3000 PSI tank at approximately 1.5 joules. Again, this figure represents PolarStar’s controlled airsoft test configuration rather than guaranteed Gel Ball performance.
