Fun factoid: this G17 Gen 5 is a replica of the original Gen 5 model that was made specifical for the FBI under the part number G17M, then released to the public as the G17 Gen5, and thus, does not have any front slide serrations/grooves that later models have. About a year after its first release, they redesigned the slide to have front serrations/grooves, which the “G* Fanclub” laughingly call the G17 Gen5.1. So, even though this doesn’t look like the current images of a Gen5, that you can Google, it is still a replica of a Gen 5, just the first iteration of the design, and as such is highly sought after, as it is the replica of the FBI issued sidearm, and will still work with all of the G17 Gen 5 accessories.

Before purchasing a Gas blowback pistol please be advised that a certain amount of maintenance is required.

Special note: These pistols also have an external safety mechanism, unlike the real steel Austrian “G*****” pistols. On the underside of the frame lower, there is a thin oblong silver slide. Once the pistols has had the Top Slide racked and is “loaded”, this silver switch can be slid towards the trigger guard, preventing the trigger from being pulled. To take the G-Series Pistol off “Safe”, simply slide this silver switch back towards the muzzle, and the trigger is released.
